Threaded Whimsy was originally thought up as sewn whimsy, but I'm the kind of person who can't quite fathom things ever being quite that simple. I also crochet and wanted to better show my love of varying fiber arts. Everything in this shop is made in my home whether with the assistance of my sewing machine or simply by hand.
I wanted to pay homage to my past self. I remember as I was on the cusp of adulthood shopping with my older sister and I tried on a lovely neutral-colored sweater and my sister said it didn't look like me. I so wanted to be the kind of person who would wear that sweater and when I asked why she didn't like how it looked, she told me it wasn't "whimsical enough." In retrospect, it amuses me because it's not like I was running around in princess dresses all the time, but I did wear more colors and fun patterns. I'm ready to infuse my whimsy back into my wardrobe, and I want to hang onto the whimsy that is in my children's wardrobe.
When I was thinking up a name for this shop and the type of sewing I hope is in my future that is what I wanted to build on. I want to offer whimsical but practical clothing for the young, or at least the young at heart.
